Stuff I Carry
Published on
I redid my backpack/carry setup recently; and this is what came of it. My old backpack was getting quite worn; and wasn’t really the best for the use case (commuter backpack vs hiking backpack). I mainly carry my main backpack, a small purse/mini-backpack, and a first aid kid, or some combination of those.
The first aid kit is not really designed to fix everything, but mainly make small injuries more tolerable, and keep other people from dying in a life-threatening situation. It’s a Pelican 1030 with:
- Gauze
- Tape
- Assorted regular bandages
- Nitrile gloves (4-6; useful for more than first aid)
- Alcohol wipes
- Tourniquet - TBD
- Narcan - TBD
- Assorted OTC meds
- Ibuprofen (Advil)
- Acetaminophen (Tylenol)
- Antihystamine (TBD; still evaluating which is good)
- Dessicant gel for moisture control
My backpack is a Doughnut Youniverse in black with colored accents. It has:
- Thinkpad laptop
- Proxmark + spare T5577 fobs
- Radio antenna in-bag
- Usually some sort of radio
- Cables!
- Sparkfun “Hydra” Cable (currently using the OG Cerberus 3-in-1; new 4-in-1 is planned)
- 12’ Pink Ethernet cable
- USB3.x PD C-C cable
- USB3.x A-C cable
- Airspy + choked USB cable + Harris all-band antenna
- HDMI Cable
- FTDI chipset USB-RS232 DE-9 adapter
- Null modem cable
- USB console cable, turnaround, and short Cat5 extension (the turnaround gets a bit large on some switches, so the extension is nice)
- Openterface + VGA adapter (currently procuring)
- Shure IEMs + spare tips
- Glasses cleaner
- Lenovo GaN multiport USB-C charger
- Assorted pens and sharpies (silver and black for dark and light backgrounds respectively)
- Samsung 128G USB3 Ventoy multi-installer and troubleshooting kit
- Ifixit 4mm screwdriver kit
- Spare meds
- USB-C dongle (not super important for me; but more for others)
- MegaPro ratcheting screwdriver
- Non-contact voltage tester
- Streamlight flashlight
My mini-backpack is a Doughnut Florence Backpack in navy. In it is:
- Key carabiner
- Wallet
- Lotion
- Lip balm
- Phone(s)
